In his quest to seek out people and ideas shifting how the world works to make it better, Scott Henderson talks with Dan Lehner, head of the Venures Team at UnLtd., the UK’s foundation for social entrepreneurs.

With the support of a £100 million endowment from the National Lottery, UnLtd. supports over 1,000 ventures every year both practically and financially.

Last year, UnLtd. launched the Big Venture Challenge to find and support the 25 most ambitious and promising social enterprises in the United Kingdom during a three-year period. From over 630 applications from around the country, they have narrowed down the top 25. These ventures come from a variety of fields, from healthcare to employment to community regeneration.

Over the course of the three years, UnLtd.’s top team and partners provide these social entrepreneurs with both financial and non-financial support, which includes the possibility of £175,000 in grants, introductions to leaders in the space, networking events, and training bootcamps. With these resources on hand, the 25 teams will be able to tap into a potential for impact that they had never imagined before.
